Sophomore inspire week Is a week where sophomores get to go to a phiclity and we go and help them for a week I chose Manna soup kitchen and we got to help them with there food program clled the backpack program and we had to help them figure out what was wrong with the program, why people wernt taking foof when they need it so we did alot of interviews with people to see what the problem was then we gave all the information to manna soup kitchen so that they can improve there program.
Sophomore Inspire Week Reflection Some of the biggest takeaways I got from sophomore inspire week was this week I found out that I really want to help people that really need help. Something else I realized that a lot of kids in durango are food insecure and that's a big issue. Some of the lessons that i learned while on sophomore inspire week was Being more organized and teamwork, we had to plan our whole week calling schools and setting up interviews with counselors to talk about food poverty and the manna soup kitchen backpack program and we couldn't have done it if we didn't all work together some people would call the schools, some people would take notes and some people helped put it all together so we could give all of the information to the manna soup kitchen so that they could improve the backpacking program. The biggest take away That I got was it’s very rewarding to know that you are helping kids and families, I will definitely remember this throughout the rest of the year .
Some skills I learned or improved were teamwork, I feel like working with other people is kind of hard for me but during this project I really learned how to work with people without Being irritated or rude. Another skill that I learned was being more organized, we all had to choose something to take care of for the week and it just helped me improve my organization skills. I had to make sure that everything was going as planned. We had scheduled meetings at schools and made interview questions for the teachers. I feel like I did learn a lot of skills during this week but the number one skill I think will help me is I learned how to help a fellow human being and that is a really good skill to have in my opinion.
During this week not everyone did their part for the project but we still did what we needed to be done. When we first started to do our project I was a little confused but I started interview questions and tried to get my peers to help or to do another task but I feel I used our time wisely. We were doing so good we would go on take walks to talk about what we had been doing. When we had a lot of time to work I just really tried to get done with what I was doing and once I was done I tried to help someone who wasn’t done. After we were all done with the task we came up with we would take a minute to make sure we were all doing what we needed to do. Overall we used our time well and got done with what we needed to do.
My youscience results did not really help me at all; it was kind of confusing to me. For next year I think that our teachers shouldn’t do the youscience but the kahoots I feel like we’re really informational and it stuck with me.
The advice that I would give a future sophomore about sophomore inspire week would be choose the Most interesting choice for you, don’t choose one that your friends choose because this week is supposed to help you and your skills and help you figure out what you like and don’t like. Another piece of advice I would give to a sophomore is have fun with whatever your doing it will make everything a lot easier and fun. The main thing to keep in your mind is that any sophomore inspire week you choose you will be improving yourself and your helping your community.
Model United nation
Project descreption
Model United nations was a hard project for me we talked about nuclear proliferation and we were assigned a country and we had to do research about their nuclear weapons history and we also had an actual MUN conference to see how it is actually done.
Reflection
My thoughts on the United Nations and our international system of problem solving are kind of bad because if they were so good we wouldn't have so much violence in our world since they are the ones to make decisions they should be making better decisions like with the nuclear weapons there honestly should be no nuclear weapons and if there is they should be disarmed because they are just so deadly and so many people have them and they can use them at any time. The international problem solving I think isn't that great either. I think that is just because there are so many problems in the world they can’t take care of all of them so they only take care of some.
Doing this project again really helped me to understand some major points in the United nations. Before I had no idea what the United Nations did or what the point of it was until this project, now I know that it is a very important organization. If we did not have this we probably would have had so many wars. All of the countries will have a conference when there is an issue in their country or a threat from another country, this is a really good solution because this way everyone can say what they need to and try to come to a solution.
When we started the project I had no clue what I was doing or what the UNited nations were but towards the end of the project I started to figure out who they are, what they do and how important they are. I had no clue what they did but during the project the United nations made almost every really big decision for humans. I think that if there were no United nations they our world would be destroyed because they help make decisions about nuclear weapons and if there were no regulations on nuclear weapons we would be in a non stop war. One skill I learned was how to make a resolution. If we were to re-do this project I would have done it all differently. When we started we just had a lot of work time and I didn't use my time wisely which made me so behind, and When we started i was very confused about the whole project and didn't ask for help so I got so behind and when it was time to present i had almost everything i need but it wasn't my best work and I could have gotten a better grade if I had just done my work, asked for help and used my time correctly. And this would have helped me because i wouldn't be confused about what i'm doing and i could have gotten ba better grade and i would of undstus the whole project
The work of adolescents
Project reflection
Marina Diaz
The work of adolescents During our 10th grade humanities class I feel that starting out with the project we did was was very interesting since we are going through it, adolescents. Throughout the project I felt really behind most of the time and I felt like I was really stressed out because everything was just really crammed into little time. As exhibition got closer I was really behind, but during that time I felt I made growth as a writer. For example with writing our interview paper, I was really stuck and had no idea what to write but the day of the exhibition I had pulled through with some of my proudest work this year. I had a lot of my teachers come to me up to me and compliment me on what I had written, that was pretty cool since that has never happened with my writing. During the time we studied adolescents I learned that adolescents is a very important time in our lives and im really glad we had the chance to learn about it during this time of our lives.
Throughout our project “The work of adolescents” I most definitely ran it to some troubles with writing my essay because I feel it is hard to write about somebody else's adolescents. When I was starting my essay I had no clue with what to start with and kind of just procrastinated, until exhibition started to come real close so I knew I just had to get it together. I started to figure out what I needed to write about our wonderful roxstar, and her adolescents. During the exhibition, I felt that the seminar was very unorganized and we didn't even really use that much of the information that we learned in biology or humanities and even if we did state anything from class most of us had forgotten and the parents had no clue what we were talking about.
One major thing that I have learned during this assignment was adolescents. Before this project I didn't really know what it meant to go through adolescence I mainly thought it was just a stereotype of young people. Now i know that adolescents is a special time of our lives and we need to recognize it more. Doing this project while we are going through adolescence I felt we got a lot more out of it than we would have if we did it later in life. I feel that ending this project I was between a 6-7. I feel that I could have used my time a lot better, I know that I was procrastinating and just keep getting off task but I just had no idea what to write about. During the end of the project I got it together and I was very proud of my work and everyone gave me a lot of comments on my writing piece. I now know that I need to stop procrastinating and just get my work done, it will be easier for me in the long run.
